Warcraft III Interview


Ein klasse Interview (engl) mit Bill Roper persönlich gibt es auf WC3 LoA. Das Interview dreht sich wie erwarten detailiert um Warcraft III.

How is Multiplayer coming along? What types of games are you planning on having?

We want to have all types of games available for play. A lot of it is still up in the air and will come back to what the level designers create. We are also looking back at what game types have been popular in past games such as StarCraft and Warcraft. As an Example there were a lot of game types created when StarCraft came out that people played for a while but then stopped playing. So we are looking at all types of games to make available. We are looking into Greed games CTF and many others. As to the Multiplayer question right now it is moving a long very well however we are running into bugs here and there. The games aren’t lasting as long as we thought they would and we are getting lots of crashes as in most testing stages. We are getting to see a lot about how different Units are working in different situations so it is moving along very well.

As an Example Rob Pardo and Dean Shipley were playing in a game Rob went with two Tauren chieftains and Dean chose like 12 different Hero units. In the beginning Dean was doing very well against Rob but as the game progressed Rob’s Tauren Chieftains were gaining experience much faster thus they were leveling and gaining experience much faster than Dean’s army of Heroes. Therefore Rob’s Army started to take the advantage as the game went on. This is an example of how we want the game to play. Where there is a bigger focus on the building of characters and strategy, verse mass numbers of units.
